A YoYo Sitar Sound World

Psychedelic Raga

A sound world where Indian raga, drone, repetition, psychedelic rock, and electronic trance turn listening into an altered state of attention. A living bridge between classical raga depth, 60s psychedelic rock, and the newer raga-trance / world-fusion wave.

Definition

What Is Psychedelic Raga?

Psychedelic Raga is where raga becomes more than a musical form: it becomes a way of changing attention. A drone holds the center, repetition deepens the room, and melody begins to feel like a path inward.

In YoYo Sitar's catalog, that path takes different shapes: from 60s-influenced psychedelic rock and Pink Floyd-colored electronic solitude to drum-and-bass raga movement and live street trance. The catalog map above gathers the main works connected to this sound world.

Three Streams

The Roots Of The Concept

01

Classical Raga Stream

Long before psychedelic rock, Indian classical music already explored altered perception through sound: the slow unfolding of raga, the grounding force of the drone, the deepening of mood over time, and the way repetition can turn listening into meditation.

This stream points toward devotion, attention, mantra, tala, and deep listening. Om Namah Shivaya in Raga Malkauns is the optional catalog reference here.

02

1960s Psychedelic / Raga-Rock Stream

This stream is where Indian classical melody moves into psychedelic rock scale, electric atmosphere, cinematic vocals, synth space, and endings that feel like doors opening.

In YoYo Sitar's catalog, this stream is strongest in Evening Rise, Ka Karoon Sajni, Love in the Days of Corona, and Freedom.
